What does PortCo work entail?
I am a student in college and am interested in ultimately pursuing a career in PE. What excites me most is the opportunity to have an impact on the strategy of a company, whether that is entering new markets, developing new products, etc. For those in the industry, particularly LMM or MM firms, can you help me understand what the portco work is really like?
Interned at MM before, the associates do not spend much of their time on strategy. That stuff is for value creation teams.
Tying financials and policing adults
Literally this. Outside of deal execution for add-ons, pretty straightforward fp&a work, and other random stuff that comes up, it’s just getting grown men to do their jobs.
