What percent of funds fail to meet hurdle rate

Title says it all. Anyone have an estimate for how often funds fail to meet their hurdle rate? Especially for certain firms that consistently fail to meet the hurdle rate (e.g. most energy shops over the last decade), seems like that would be something to look out for and avoid when making a career move since your carry will essentially be worthless.
