Which laptops do megafunds issue?

Hi all, kind of a silly topic but which laptops do MF give to its employees?

Background: GS/MS/JPM IBD Analyst to Associate (didn't do the 2+2 but stuck with my firm as I wanted to finish a specific project)

Joining: KKR/BX/Carlyle/Apollo/TPG

My current firm issues Dell laptops which I rarely used as I was on the desk 90% of the time.

My personal laptop is almost dead so I am in the market for a new laptop. I want to get one that is similar to the ones my future fund will issue so I can get used to the keyboard....as I expect to be on the road a little more (joining a team that has a decent amount of short distance travel).

Too embarrassed to ask such silly question to my future fund (don't want to ruin my rep by asking the assistance either...)

Thinking about getting Thinkpad X1 Carbon for now.

Thanks!!

Wherever/whenever you travel (private or for work) you will have to bring your work laptop along anyway. I would therefore recommend buying a tablet / convertible such as Surface Pro for private use to avoid having two regular laptops with you.

I have been there (Lenovo for work, Dell for private) and it is a pain in the ass to travel with both, especially if you also travel with a tablet. These days I only bring my work laptop (some Lenovo Carbon fyi) and my tablet.

How big of a functional variance is there between PCs that you’ll have more than 5 minute learning curve on a new one? I don’t even own a PC and every time I switched jobs it took like fifteen seconds to get it figured out.
