WLB / hours at Berkshire Partners?

I've heard that Berkshire hours are slightly better than MF, but can someone convert this into concrete numbers? I'm coming from consulting so don't really know what that looks like in terms of daily and weekend hours.

Know the Boston scene pretty well (left it recently but still have a bunch of friends there) and don’t think this is exactly the case. To be clear, I don’t think it’s known for being worse than peers, but think it’s similar to most other places - 90 hours when you’re sprinting hard, 60 when you’re not, and probably sprinkle in a couple 40 hour weeks when your senior team is on vacation. Think the positive rep Berkshire has is more related to culture than hours (which are different) - seems like most people who go there post-MBA end up being there long-term and/or a good number were former associates, very little partner turnover, known generally for being very friendly and easy going compared to some other firms.

Advent I think is similar from an hours perspective and generally good culture but it is a bigger, more global firm which I’m sure adds some wild cards to the equation. Bain is a slightly different model - they have 8-10 people on a deal including their analysts rather than 4-5 that’s more common at Berkshire/Advent. I’ve heard it generally leads to a bit better hours, but not like you’re cutting hours in half which means I think it’s probably easier to get a little lost in the shuffle or spend time on things that don’t feel as meaningful or efficient. But, still pretty good as far as things go.
