Working for Free in PE

I've been working at a new PE growth fund (Based in the Midwest) for the past 5 months for free. I'm a recent college grad who switched into finance my junior year at a state school and was ranked in the top 1% in finance my senior year. I'm averaging around 50 hours working remote and want to move to NYC to work in PE or IB. Sole analyst w/ 3 MD/Parters. We also have an India team for modeling.

The firm started in January, and the Managing Partner (alum of my school) mentioned that if I want/need more experience, he would help me get into investment banking (NYC not specified). I haven't mentioned that I want to move to NYC.

The Managing Partner has offered me two options:
1. Stick with the firm until and get paid when we close the first deal (early-mid September). MP mentioned I would have Chief of Staff responsibilities and a job title of analyst/chief of staff. Salary 65-80k.
2. Have him help me get into investment banking with his extensive network?

Any advice?
