Would you invest in Electric Vehicle companies?

I was attending a meeting with the CFO of an EV company a few days ago, and it's pretty cool to see all the unseen products they plan to offer, and how management thinks about the long-term strategic moves against competitors.

The thing is, I don't really know how much money they need to burn to achieve a certain production level. Say 10,000 per year. The capacity is there, and that is almost true for every EV company.

What do you think about this market rn?

- It is cheaper to develop an electric vehicle, no need for PTAE engineers, complexity is heavily reduced, sourcing process is easier, crash worthiness is higher, weight distribution improves, and it has generally a positive impact on NVH, reliability, performance feel and overall customer reception.
- It is also easier to upsell various trim levels based on range, where a clear benefit is visible at various price points
- Difficulties are in building out the charging network (expensive), availability of resources for battery production, but also in developing more software elements (anything from charging apps to AI/autonomous driving), related insurance products, and marketing/branding.
- I think there will be more co-operations going forward; say the electric powertrain and battery products may be comparable, where design and software features on mobile devices will be a bit more uniquely branded.
