1-page country based discussion on real estate - any tips?

Hi everyone,

I'm currently interviewing with an REPE firm for a research position, and I've been asked to do a 1-page writeup on which real estate sector offers the best investment opportunity in the next 12 months. I have no experience with real estate, so I will greatly appreciate any tips/structure/ideas for starting out. Thanks!

Sorry maybe I was unclear, but I've been asked to choose between offices and residential property, and explain which of these sectors do I think offers the best investment opportunity in the next 12 months. I've also been asked to focus on 1 country in APAC for the writeup. So yes, I think it is more on which sector I think will outperform.

Gotcha, I'd look at recent fund raises for the region, read the articles about them and strategies mentioned (probably heavy logistics, based on the growth of e-commerce, and housing plays, could also see office there being a good opportunistic bet).  As pudding mentioned, check the brokerage houses, Preqin, APREA, PREA, etc. for more info.

Try Googling for some research from the big brokerage houses (CBRE/Cushman/JLL/Newmark). They may have some reports you can read on MF and office which will help you with your write up. Also see if you can find some larger investment managers in the country you choose - some of them provide economic overviews and sector overviews - AKA the 'House View' over the next 12-24 months.
