Advice needed - no internship this summer right now, weighing options

Rising senior, fucked up this year dropping my GPA to a 3.55 at a top 20 school with an econ major and failing to land an internship for the summer because I didn't try hard enough to network/send my resume places earlier in the year. I'm trying to weigh my options. Right now, I've been looking for places where I could get some solid finance/modeling experience to set me up for post-grad recruitment in Commercial Real Estate. My plan was to work investment sales at a big firm after graduation and then move on to the aquisitions side from there after a few years.

For the past couple weeks I've been cold emailing/calling 100+ firms to see if they'd have any openings for the summer. I would've considered working for free this summer (and had a couple offers for that) but considering I worked at a MM Boutique IB firm last summer for free, I simply can't afford it. I don't know what do now that the typical intern period is starting this coming week. My parents now pressuring me to find a summer job

What I see as my options:

Continue to network the hell out of myself with cold calls/emails until I find something anywhere and get a job here at hom in the meantime

Get a job and use the summer to take modeling courses and find an internship I can do during the fall semester

Any advice?
