Affordable Housing - LIHTC/HUD Educational Materials
I'm working for an affordable housing developer and I was hoping someone on here has recommendations for educational resources to learn more about the space. I have been learning a ton through work but I want to up my game and see if there is outside content I can use to bring value to the table. Any in depth text on LIHTC/HUD deals and structuring would be fantastic.
Cheers
You need to be more resourceful. Google it then come back with more specific questions. There's so much information about the industry and asset class.
Reading the QAP and going through past bond applications (most are public) definitely helps for getting a general understanding.
Former head underwriter for a state LIHTC agency here.
+1 to what this guy said. Read the QAP and the program rules. Most State Agencies that issue tax credits have a robust “Rules and Regulations” section on their website with links to all applicable State and Federal codes. Start there and you will come out with plenty of knowledge and follow up questions.
Also, attend the monthly board meetings where developers plead their case to the governing board, those are always interesting.

Novogradac is like the LIHTC mastermind, browse their website and google any of your LIHTC questions with them in the search bar, they have a lot of whitepapers floating around that explain various aspects of the financing of LIHTC projects.
