Appraisal to acquisitions - seeking advice
I'm been working as an appraisal/valuations analyst (all property types) for a year and a half or so and my goal is to work in acquisitions. I know it is possible to make that jump directly but given the market, I'm considering trying to land a job as an analyst/senior analyst on a solid investment sales team as an intermediate step before pursuing associate roles on the principal side.
Would love some input on whether this sounds like a good strategy / if I/S experience would be additive here or if I should hold out and try to move directly to an acquisitions analyst role when the market starts heating up again.
I made the jump from appraisal directly to acquisitions but that was 2021 in a much different market. Depends how desperate you are to get out whether you want to take an IS role or hold out for acq. I would tend to say in this market I would take what I can get since if you hold out for acq you might be waiting awhile anyway
