How to move from Real Estate to Infrastructure?
Title. For context, am a fresh graduate based in London with a string of real estate equity investing internship experiences, but now reading the room in terms of hiring and the general RE cycle so looking to pivot to Infrastructure asap. I thought this early in one's career it'd be relatively easy to jump around, especially with strong (target) undergrad grades and top tier firm names on CV but am finding virtually no traction on the Infra recruiting side compared to my RE applications.
How can I position my self so firms and recruiters actually want to hire me for Infrastructure investment roles?
Any advice is much appreciated!
Not sure how it works in London, but in the States the answer would be "Get a MBA and target infrastructure firms."
As similar as you think real estate and infrastructure would be (tangible objects and whatnot) there isn't that much overlap in the career paths. Here at least.
Thanks, appreciate you sharing the US perspective,
Easiest path would be to work on data centers as depending on who you ask it's either real estate or infrastructure.
great idea, thanks!
Try get a role in Big 4 infra advisory. They’re super active and typically exit to infra funds after 2 or so years. Only thing is you’ve to be sure that’s what you want to do as switching back will be tough. And, worth bearing in mind, infra is pretty boring compared to RE.
