Controversial

Don’t vote for a retard who tanks the economy and there will be jobs.

Always remember that 10 of the last 11 U.S. recessions began under Republican presidents and most of them had functional brains.

...but is it REPE?

This is what triggered this post. I’m in the market broadly and have been interviewing, doing these bullsht 48 hour case studies, presenting them, doing final rounds, and then… ghosted. My interviews have been going well, case studies are right (you can just double check these with AI now), background is strong.

This is legitimately just a huge waste of time for everyone. The thing is, if SOME of these firms finally pulled the trigger, there’d be movement since firms will have to backfill those who leave. Instead, you have everyone just fcking around.

Its so bad and its every company from big to small. Interviewing with 5-10 people and case study just to go to waste is crushing when it happens over and over

Same I had a final round for a job that a recruiter reached out to me about, took it with a grain of salt as recruiters typically suck. They came back 15 mins after the final interview and told me no. Great I appreciate the openess of the company.

Come 2 weeks later a different recruiter reached out about the same role that was reposted with same title, pay, qualifications, but they changed like 2 words in the description/responsibility. I told them I had already been through the process.

This week open my linkedin on monday and the recruiter from the company, different than the one I screened with reached out for a interview oppurtunity lol.

Had an interview for a large brokerage last week. Hiring manager specifically told HR lady to speak with me.

We speak, all goes well, and HR asks when am I available to speak with the team. I give her three dates and times and say I can be flexible with the team's schedule.

A full week later, nothing. No follow up on their end, no mentioning the dates don't work and need to reschedule. Just nothing.

Honestly FTS.

I've had 2 recruiters reach out about some role and then they ghost me after I respond. Even though they reached out to me first??? Also have had an interview get canceled 10 min before and then when I responded to reschedule, I just got ghosted. Are these people just looking to waste my time or just make it look like they are doing something to justify their jobs? I feel like this industry needs to have a full on collapse at this rate

They spam call like crazy too. Dude learn how to use email or at least text…

Market has been garbage lately. I’ve had multiple processes, made it to case studies, only for the fund not want to pull the trigger. In addition, for a lot of the processes, the fund just interviews multiple people makes them do a case and then decides to not hire anybody.

Extremely frustrating given these case studies require a good amount of time on top of my day job.

A lot of these roles are “always-on” pipelines. They’re not necessarily urgent hires — more like keeping a bench of candidates in case something opens up.

Funniest

Guys, the days of yesteryear, when sites like Select Leaders might actually yield a job, are over.  Recruiters are the lowest form of fucking scum on the planet.  They know nothing.  Had a stupid bitch reach out to me via LinkedIn to pitch a job, set up a call, only to find out 5 minutes into the call that the firm (based on the opposite coast from me) wanted someone in-office.  I called the dumb bitch up after the call and laid into her for a good minute before she had the audacity to hang up on me.  Maybe check to see where the candidate you are soliciting is located?  LOL.  These people are losers who never worked a legit job a day in their life.  My personal favorite is that dick head Jim McGuff from Texas.  Sends around dumb emails about jobs in markets like Chattanooga or Wilmington NC and then can't understand why a candidate in a major market refuses to move there.  Dumb fuck.

I cannot believe ol Jimmy McGuffin  is mentioned by name here. I spoke to him about an AM role last year, and he was rude and abrasive, cutting me off mid sentence. I got a little snarky about this admittedly and he launched into a tirade about how I didn’t respect his search and his skills and that we better “re-engage” on the call or he’d hang up.

This is a super validating thread. I am losing my mind. I had a vp debt AM opportunity with a major real estate investor. 6 total interviews. A 1 hour case study which I thought I did pretty well on. My last interview was in their office. The conversation got cut short because the interviewer showed up 10 minutes late but I still think I showcased myself well. It’s now been 4 weeks and I still haven’t heard anything. I followed up twice — first time I was told I’d hear back upon the head recruiters return and then the second time, I got nothing. The thing is the recruiters are in house and appeared not sleezey or salesy. My application still shows as active on workday.

I don’t know what to think of it. So frustrating

Similar experience as others in this thread for a role with Public Storage in their north Dallas office. Multiple virtual rounds and an in person interview. Got ghosted and reached out multiple times only to get replies along the lines of “we haven’t made a decision yet” from their internal recruiter. I could tell they continued to repost the role on LinkedIn during that time. The funny thing is during the time I was waiting to hear back, the internal recruiter cold emailed my friend asking if he would be interested in interviewing for the same role. Overall, the interview process was terrible and I find it hard to not feel disrespected. I understand what others in this thread are expressing.

Damn, sorry to hear this. I feel your pain. My question is (and I don't expect you to know the answer), why are these companies reluctant to formally reject you/cut you loose if they intend to re-post the job and seek out other candidates? Like is their logic "we liked X candidate, but we want to see who else is out there first before we make a decision?" or have they already made up their mind that X candidate isn't getting the job but they don't want to formally reject you until they've identified their preferred candidate?
