are you WFH or back in office?

my area is entering phase 2 Friday and my boss decided that Monday is the day we will go back into the office. despite the fact that the guidelines state “continued teleworking when possible”. my job is 100% easily done at home. yes my office is technically “low risk” due to walls/space but my boss and coworkers definitely fall in the “high risk” category of people who need to avoid public when they can. so I’m confused. and I’m pissed. I’m loving WFH and literally every other company I’ve heard of is extended WFH thru September at the earliest. should I try to say something or accept my fate and cry every morning when I wake up early to get ready to go somewhere to do the same shit i could’ve done 2 hours later on my couch

Timely - this is my first day back in the office. No one else is wearing a mask.

I'm not particularly thrilled about it, but it wouldn't be a good look for me to continue to be the only one working from home.

I plan on it. Work from home Fridays alone would be terrific.

My office culture is a bit odd - no one one generally cares if you're here or not, as work product is more important, until it starts getting noticed that you're not here.

It is noon today and so far I've had two calls, reviewed market data for a pursuit we probably won't close on, listened to two podcasts, and have posted a couple times on WSO. I'm not sure what the argument is for having to do this in the office.

We went from a 3 day per year WFH policy to 3 months straight so far. To top it off, our office building was looted, no damage to our floor but all of the ground floor businesses were trashed.

Our lease is ending next year and we are considering making WFH permanent and hot desking with a much smaller footprint. This is a pretty crazy turnaround from a place that used to consider WFH an "unofficial vacation day".

Still WFH. Seems that my company wants everyone back in the office. 'Phase 2' employees are going back on Monday. Not too sure when 'Phase 3' (aka everyone else) will be back. That said, it doesn't seem like they are forcing the issue on people where it's a huge pain in the ass - kids, public transportation issues, etc.

We're supposed to be WFH... But I am in the office typing this now. Director just said she doesn't want to hear about it from us directly. Out of sight out of mind I guess

WFH for flexibility is great and we will continue to use it for that reason, but my psyche was definitely taking a hit working in my bedroom and living room for 3 months. So much better being back in the office

It's interesting to read all the opinions on WFH. I personally could give a shit if I ever step inside our office again. Less shitty impromptu meetings that should be emails, less shitty ad-hoc requests, less shitty commuting (Suburbanite with two kids). I miss the people but I am totally fine with Zoom/Skype/Teams for chatting with them.

That said, I do miss the networking in person. I feel that you don't typically know a person until you meet them in person and can see their body language.
