Asked to Submit Sample Model/Presentation?
Title gets to the core of the question, but for more detail: I resume dropped on LinkedIn for an Acq/AM role and received an email back asking for a sample model and presentation. Was told it could be from past experience or current work. Has anyone ever seen this before / have any advice?
My first reaction was to blind a model/IC Memo/presi (depending on the deal I select could be a smaller memo) from my current role, but not sure I feel entirely comfortable tossing out the firm's model/presentation format. I did a case study test a few weeks back that I could repurpose, or could spin up something quickly based on a random practice case study prompt. I have only had 1 RE role (my current one) and am not sure I want to share the model format/presi (even if blinded).
^ might have answered my own question there, but would love to hear if anyone on this forum has dealt with this / general thoughts on the request. Seems unusual, but I just have not seen this before in my interview processes (3 years ago and this year) or on this forum.
I think we're interviewing for the same role, just don't answer and move on to another role lol. Jokes aside I sent in a repurposed model and pres.
Haha best of luck to you! I'd be surprised if there weren't at least a few people on this forum interviewing. But thanks, appreciate the answer
You too, thanks. Good luck.
Did you get through? If so, did you have your next round/how'd it go what did you think?
FME, an atypical demand and practice.
Solving a case study in excel is the norm.
Possibly, they are model collecting (to boot).
Definitely wouldn't submit your company's model, but a clean memo and presentation should be fine (just PDF the presentation).
We give candidates a take home case study, typically have 3-4 days to pull together a model and a short presentation on it. Asking for you to submit materials from current or past work is very odd as there's no way of proving you prepared them.
If you do plan to do it, there's a good case study from Related somewhere on WSO, I can't find it now but have definitely seen it in the past and was able to find it within last few months. Model that out, put together a 2-3 page deck using some notional MF asset to represent it, and then send over the case study source, model and slides.
Would love to see that case study and answer package if anyone has it just for personal practice.
