Asking for CPI Increase prior to starting

Hey All,

Bit of an odd question. In august I signed an offer to work as a development analyst in a MCOL city, and since then have been working part time remote while I finish UG. Because I’ve been part time I have access to a company email, and have received numerous emails sent out company wide detailing cpi increases for full-time employees, however I have missed out on these increases due to being part time.

Do y’all think it would be unreasonable to ask for a CPI increase even though I haven’t started yet, but considering that I’ve effectively been employed by the company for 8 months (11 if you count my internship with them last summer).

Also if this matters or adds anything, I’m the first person the company has ever hired for development straight out of UG.

Thanks!

Given that you've been working part time already, this is one of those situations where I'd actually say it's a fair ask. Particularly since you've seen the emails about company-wide CPI increases. You just need to point out the current inflationary environment and that you saw that the rest of the organization received said increase, and think it's only fair that your starting salary reflect that as well since you're already technically employed there.
