Baywa r.e development - thoughts?
As the title says, anyone know about this firm? I don't see any posts on WSO about it but saw that they are paying dev associate 100-140k plus 15% bonus for 2-3 YEO. Honestly sounds better than what most REPE folks or dev manager make. Any thoughts on the firm and why is there comp so much higher than most top dev shops pay
Just saw that they have unlimited time off…this is unheard of in RE. Has anyone ever worked for them ?
I don't know the firm, but unlimited PTO is a trap 80% of the time, that just means you have to provide a reason and it's up to manager approval every time you want off. Not always, but usually. Occasionally, you'll find one that's actually unlimited (my friend took 30 days of PTO in a role like this last year), but that's the exception, not the norm. Not familiar with the firm, sorry can't help there.
Unlimited time off just means you don’t have to count PTO days. You don’t actually get to go to Europe for 6 months and still have a job.
Sounds pretty in-line, if not under comp for a dev associate in a major market
That’s under market to lower end market for a dev associate and I’m not in a gateway city lol. So more lower standard less unheard of.
It is? Extell is NYC is paying dev/acquisitions associates $100-150k lol, 2-4 YOE. I think people in this sub are way off on comp.
Then Extell is straight up robbing associates. 130-140k is pretty standard for my area with double the bonus that OP quoted which is COLA to probably 300k all-in NYC.
Been in the industry a while and folks who are willing to accept comp like Extell’s aren’t going to help juniors raise comp.
This confuses me too, I’ve read so many posts about comps on this site and almost all of them are less than or equal to what Baywa is paying. Even Hines NY is at 145k base and 30% bonus.
Most people on this site say they are dev associates and make below 150k which is so very confusing. What shops are you talking about that are paying such astronomical numbers for someone who is only 3 or so years out of college
Yeah it's $100-150k for 1-3 YOE so I was wrong but I have rarely heard of 100% bonus at these firms. That's the market today, many roles on Linkedin and Select Leaders pay $90-$175k base with probably 20-30% bonus for 1-4 years of experience. Firms are completely taking advantage of the market, but that seems to be real estate in general. Even in better markets I know family offices that are run by billionaires giving Associates $100-125k base knowing people will take it for the name in NYC.
What is a fair compensation for dev associate role with 2-3 years of work experience? Asset class doesn’t matter just a average number that is being used to compare this against
