Best Path to Institutional REPE- Asset Management Analyst or Investment Sales Analyst?

Hey All,

I'm one year out of undergrad. I have offers to join a small REPE shop (12-15 people) as an asset management analyst, or at as an analyst for a NYC investment sales team. My eventual goal is to make it to a larger REPE firm either on acquisitions or asset management.

Does one of the roles I am considering give me more skills or make me marketable faster? My concern with the REPE offer is the size of the firm and what real learning opportunities I'll have, but am also concerned I will be strictly doing valuation models for 2 years on the sales team. Any thoughts?

This really depends on what IS team. If its Institutional (ES,Harmon & Spies, Stacom, Legacy HFF) then I would say IS. If not, then I would say go Equity side.
