Best Student Housing Developer(s) in the USA?

WSO-- I need help from those within the development/real estate world.

I am interested in investing in small scale multifamily in and around strong universities in my region of the country. I got to thinking--this could be a future for me, and would like to get some experience of scale.

I don't have formal RE full-time experience but I have some time in banking that would surely help in an RE Development role somehow, right?

So the question is WSO: who does student housing the best? Who are the biggest? What firms should I be researching into?

Landmark Properties has been the most active developer for a while now

Does Landmark still deliver about half of their deals late?

Looking from the perspective of their Austin new constructions, 100% yes (not sure on their other ones but Austin is driving a large part of their deal flow).

Landmark is by far the most prolific student developer. CA ventures, core spaces are top tier big name student developers. Greystar has some a few student deals, although their bread and butter is traditional multi. Gilbane is an active developer in student housing. Aspen Heights is reputable as well, although a few of their developments have soured.

A lot of times, each developer will have a certain brand ie ca ventures does uncommon, core does hub on campus, landmark does the standard, etc.
