Beware Macdonald and Company. Fake Job Postings
Just want to warn people to stay away from Macdonald and Company. They had posted an acquisitions role, but in conversation they quickly stated there was no actual role despite there being a detailed posting. Instead they "expected to have a number of roles to fill". Then they spent the next 5 minutes trying to dig for information on my current compensation figures, even 401k figures and health insurance benefits. Very clearly just digging for data, with no actual roles to fill... Anyway, just wanted to warn everyone here so they don't waste their time.
I always assumed those LinkedIn recruiters were utter nonsense to begin with, looking for resume buzzwords without actually understanding any of them or how skillsets translate. I suppose the next step was always data harvesting instead of actually connecting applicants with employers. Good head's up.
I've also had a rough time with them. Ignore the title here, I have 9 YOE and have applied to a couple VP listings they posted that say something along the lines of 7-10 YOE required only to be told by them that they mean "7-10 years as already being a VP" which doesn't make any sense. Everyone knows VP level is 7-10 YOE in total. If I was already a VP for 7-10 years then it's probably an issue that I haven't been promoted yet.
I had a pretty good experience with them 3+ years ago, but if they are doing fake job postings, then things have definitely gone downhill. That is a Selby Jennings move.

They are also legit in DACH - probably the best mid-market HH for REPE in Germany. I know they sent a guy or two so could be they are probing the market for starters.
