BioMed Realty
Anyone have any insight on BioMed Realty? I understand they got bought by blackstone recently, and I heard it’s kind of sweaty, but any info on comp or culture?

I hope those threads give you a bit more insight.
Toxic environment with very high turnover. Associates work 80 hour weeks for $125k + 10% bonus.
Curious if you have any more info? I’ve heard the culture has changed quite a bit in the last few years with a lot more focus on employee retention / WLB.
Hasn't the life sciences market been frozen/dead the past 2+ years? What would an associate be doing for 80 hrs/wk?
I interviewed there years ago. I met with a blonde woman in asset management who thought she was hot shit. They didn’t make me an offer because they wanted more research experience and CoStar experience which seemed odd to me for a Senior Analyst role (CoStar is not hard to log into and learn). It seemed like an interesting job but that was years ago, before COVID.
I'll add my two cents since I worked there for several years...
BioMed was taken private by Blackstone in 2016, so not recent unless you are referencing their recap. I thought it was a great place to work and learn in the early years of my career. Great leadership that is very experienced in life sciences and, depending on the dept, you will work very closely with BX which provides an additional great learning opportunity. Very institutional and mature company (which can be good or bad depending what you're looking for). The benefits are solid and they moved into new office space a few years ago that is very nice Now, the not so great parts... hours were long for my team (60+) and comp was sub-par (this was several years back and think it has gotten better since) with meager bonuses. The portco-PE relationship can be frustrating, adding an additional layer for approvals, lots of and sometimes differing opinions, etc.
If you plan on living and working in CRE in San Diego, you can't do much better.
