Blackstone Strategic Partners (Real Estate)

Curious if anyone has any insight on this team. Looks like they raised their latest real estate fund in 2023, trying to get a pulse for what the bulk of this capital is deployed on such as buying existing gp/lp positions in existing funds, etc. Any other insight in terms of culture and any other color on this role would be extremely helpful. Thanks!

Based on the most helpful WSO content, Blackstone's Strategic Partners group is highly regarded, particularly for its performance and deal activity. For example, it was noted during Blackstone's Investor Day that their secondaries group, Strategic Partners, achieved a 17% net IRR and closes deals on average every 3-4 days. This highlights their efficiency and strong track record in the secondaries market.

Regarding their real estate focus, while specific details about the 2023 fund deployment aren't explicitly mentioned, Strategic Partners typically operates in the secondaries space. This often involves acquiring existing GP/LP positions in funds, which aligns with their broader strategy of providing liquidity solutions to investors in private equity, real estate, and other alternative asset classes.

As for culture, Blackstone is known for its high-performance environment, and Strategic Partners is no exception. The team is recognized for its rigorous deal-making pace and strong results, which likely translates to a demanding but rewarding work culture. Additionally, Blackstone's overall platform offers significant professional growth opportunities, as evidenced by its high employee satisfaction and reputation for strong exits to top-tier hedge funds and other prestigious roles.

If you're considering a role here, expect exposure to a fast-paced, high-impact environment with a focus on secondaries transactions, including real estate.
