BofA vs Lazard Real Estate Investment Banking

Anyone have any insight into these groups in terms of hours, compensation, exists, career progression, etc?

Lazard seems to be much more M&A focused, while BofA seems more financing focused.

Thanks!

BofA/BAML REGL will give you better exits to top REPE funds. The real estate industry is very capital intensive; in order to land the top mandates, banks are expected to provide acquisition financing. That's why you rarely see Lazard on those large cap real estate M&A

When it comes to RE the banks with balance sheets reign supreme as the REIT world is way more capital markets heavy than M&A heavy. That said if you would prefer to be doing more M&A, I would lean toward Laz

I really don't think BofA will have better exits than Laz either. Their both top caliber banks and REPE recruiting isn't quite as nit-picky as LBO PE recruiting.
