Can I please hear your honest opinions.

Hey guys,

I'm a sophomore at a target school for real estate out on the west coast. I ultimately want to get to REPE straight of UG (I understand that's difficult). Anyway I have to choose between these 2 options for summer 2020.

1) Major Shop - Tenant Rep Office Leasing in a primary market. Team of 3 did over 10M+ in leasing sales last year.

2) Major Shop - Investment Sales (I'll get a taste of everything, nothing too specific) it's in a primary market and has great deal flow.

My question: Which one of these options will position myself the best for UG REPE recruitment?

Thank you

Take investment sales, it's the most transferrable skillset to repe. Why would you choose leasing over investment sales...?

Also it is not hard to go into repe out of undergrad. Don't shoot yourself in the foot by belittling your own skills or intelligence. It's a lot cheaper to take a kid out of college than to take a 2nd year analyst out of REIB who is making $200k all in and will demand a similar or larger salary. More and more repe funds are realizing this. Get into peoples inboxes, get on the phone, form relationships, and you can absolutely work in repe right out of undergrad.

Agree, definitely IS. If you had said IS vs. landlord rep leasing I would argue they are equally good options because landlord rep agents arguably get wider/more varied exposure to principal clients. 80%+ of the tenant rep business is just business generation and relationship management, and for an internship you are not going to learn much besides how to expense a martini at lunch
