Changing Careers from a Non-Profit Economic Development Director to Real estate development

Hello all, new to this forum. I am currently working for a neighborhood based development corporation (1yr) and I have a little over a year experience working for a LIHTC developer. I really enjoyed my previous role but for the travel. I really miss the RE development industry and DOING development projects/work. Now I just advocate for subsidy on behalf of the neighborhood. Still tangentially involved in the capital stacks and design but really looking to get back into a full time development role. I have an MPA focused on economic development finance and am a Vet.

Questions

1) How competitive is the 1-3yr experience development project manager market

2) What type of salary should I ask for/ expect

thank you for your input
