CMBS B-Piece Buyer

Hello. Just wondering what are your thoughts on somebody joining a Real Estate Private Equity firm which is a major CMBS B-Piece buyer, especially if it is right out of college? Do you think this opportunity would be considered prestigious/special in any way? Also would it be possible to transition from this role to a CMBS or structured products based HF/AM?

Any input would be appreciated!

It's a terrific opportunity to that straight out of undergrad. Your fund will probably be targeting 20% returns and that strategy can also be housed in a hedge fund, so you should not worry about that. It's more prestigious that asset management. As long as the fund has a couple of hundred million in management you should be fine.
