Colliers Capital Markets

I understand Colliers poached a sizeable team from JLL in an attempt to be competitive in NYC and grow the IS/D&E placement business. Anyone have firsthand insight/experience?

There was a Financial Analyst posting for it few weeks back for their team. I actually phone interviewed for it. They were actually looking for two with one being a Senior guy. My impressions were even for the Analyst they wanted a very experienced guy. Asked me to send models I have created and also mentioned final round would be a 2 hour Argus test. Didn't get a 2nd round.

The team is very good, from what I understand JLL offered the analysts who worked for them double their yearly pay to stay so they could save some face (this is what I was told). The guys are all great guys and really experienced. My current boss started during the same time as Richard Baxter and Scott Latham and they actually worked together way back.

They are focusing on B office buildings specfically, as the A grade office buildings are largely dominated by C&W (with the move of Spies and Harmon from Eastdill). They should get a pretty good share of this business, JLL's team was a great producer last year if you look at the stats.

If you are interested in the job posting it is probably far too late because I know people have already gone through the Argus test and are presumably waiting to hear back in the next few days (or the next week).

I've always thought of them as equal to Marcus & Millichap. They're not institutional focused the reputation solely depends on the team.

In every single market I've worked in, Colliers is in a two-way fight with JLL for second after CBRE.

Like previous people have said it depends on the market and more importantly the broker. I am working for a very successful Investment Sales broker at Colliers who is the top in my market (secondary but large city) we consistently beat out CBRE and JLL for deals while Eastdil, Cushman, and HFF do not have a presence in my market. If someone is a great broker then all that matters is that you are under a national flag, the rest will come.
