Construction to Development
Hey guys. A little bit about me, I am currently an assistant project manager for one of the largest GCs in my market. I am currently working on a ground up high rise residential tower for a large national developer. While I enjoy my job and am learning a ton, I would like to eventually transition into multifamily development and deal with the actual acquisitions/financials/deal making side.
I am wondering what would be the best way to go about this. Do I need to go back to school for my MRE/MBA? Or would I be better off trying to network my way in? I have no financial background whatsoever outside of construction financials like change orders, gain/loss reporting, budgeting, etc. Is there a way to get there through a CM/owner's rep role?
Any feedback would be greatly appreciated!
