Deal Sleds
Fellas - Starting a new gig in NYC as an acquisitions associate at at REPE firm (level of Rockpoint, Square Mile, Angelo Gordon etc.) and need a recommendation for some good office loafers. Will be a first year and youngest on the investment team so don’t want to push it but would like to fit the mold. Any suggestions?
edit: firm comps
gamos or bust ... Tods decent and cheaper...gucci if you cool...god forbid do not buy colehanns
Jesus what is this 2012. Am I on Brobible.com
Do you even do deals? /s
brobible. blast from the past
Lol those 4 firms are so different. Kind of funny that you picked them. Lotta people at my REPE firm wear Nikes - not trolling. But that’s west coast life
since you’re in NYC, you should have several different pair of Ferragamo loafers. At least one for each day of the week. If you wear your Tuesday loafers on Thursday you will look like an absolute fuckface
Yeah, a lot of people wear sneakers at my shop. It's 2022. Businesswear is dead. Wearing a suit and tie doesn't make you look cool, it makes you look like a wage slave or someone who is beholden to their clients.
I wore Allen Edmonds cordovan loafers on my first day and my boss said he liked them.
I wear them probably 3x a week and they are comfy, so that’s my recommendation.
Only answer is Allen Edmonds Verona II. Don’t get gucci or feragamo as an associate if you don’t want to stand out. The AEs look great and aren’t $850
Don’t get Gucci or Ferragamo full stop. It shows you can’t think for yourself.
Magnanni
Wolf and Shepard Monaco Loafers… so comfy and look decent
You’re an associate dude. Run the model and shut the fuck up.
I've been wearing aurelien city loafers. They're really comfortable but my office is fairly casual overall. If we actually had to dress up I'm going with my allen edmonds park aves.
Hoka are the ultimate deal sleds
Todds, Gucci... both are terrible...
Buy an expertise, a leather type, a way of sewing / building a shoe, a western production with decent wages. NEVER BUY SOMETHING WITH A LOGO ON IT if you want to dress smart.
Allen Edmonds is a very nice brand. Cordovan if you don't have horse issues is really great from a durability standpoint.
British brands tend to be on the hefty side of loafers but you can't go wrong with Crockett & Jones / John Lobb or similar brands in terms of "savoir-faire" (I would avoid Church's if not a great deal available on the internet since they've been fully acquired by Prada from the reminder Equinox stake, more on the fashion side of shoes now).
Italian brands will often be a bit too thin / pointy and will make you look like an Instagram crypto investor or Zara model.
As a French I'm forced to promote Weston with the "moc 180" loafers, rocking them in dark burgundy during summer in London!
One of my favorite brand is actually American but pricy (Cordovan again): Alden !
Around $300 USD check: Meermin, Carmina & Morjas !
See shoes like watches: By a $250 Seiko from a real watch maker not a $2,500 Gucci watch from a fashion brand
