Dealing With Depression While Working Demanding Finance Jobs

Please share your tips and trick on how you navigate your mental health issues within and around the workplace. What do you do when you are having an episode/bad week? Do you talk to your teammates? Do you hide it as best as you can?

Please, share your anecdotes within this thread. I think that this topic is un-talked about on this website and I have seen many people suffering from such issues.

Mental health is a very hard issue to deal with at work. You have to keep a consistent schedule with your work and learn to cut yourself off from work for what you need to do for yourself. You have to make time for yourself and do the things you want. This includes taking a day off to mentally recharge, or a vacation or even just an evening where you're not responding to emails. If your work is giving you to short of deadlines and high expectations, that's not healthy. You need to really reconsider your job and take on less, or move to another lower stress job.

I'd personally stay away from talking with teammates about any depression or other mental health problems you're going. Talk with friends and family instead and learn to take care of yourself first. I think intermingling it with work is just a bad idea, it's too much of a private thing in my opinion.

Don’t talk to your teammates.

Talk to your boys, girlfriend/wife, and most importantly - a therapist. It is 2023 man, you don’t have to suffer in silence. You’ll learn strategies to cope and/or find medicine to help.
