Also some additional questions if you have time. I would appreciate any insight here.
If your end goal is to be in acquisitions which role would you take out of college? Are the skills you learn in asset management easily transferable to a role in acquisitions? Would you be a strong candidate for a top tier acquisitions role if you did AM at AEW? Could Starwood Property Trusts rotational program open doors to real estate investment banking/ advisory?
Do you have offers with both? I'm assuming for STWD you would start out in surveillance right? For AEW - I'd be curious about the types of assets the role would cover / if they are wholly owned, or managed with a JV partner.
The Starwood role sounds like it's debt side vs the AEW role would be equity? If you want to switch to equity acquisitions, I'd think AEW would set you up better. Plus AEW has a MUCH better WLB/culture if that matters to you. I know two people at AEW who switched from AM to acquisitions a few years in - they were top performers though.

Yes offers from both. Not exactly sure what assets/who owns them getting clarification on that Monday. Also, yes you start out in surveillance.
