Does anyone else want to get fired or has wanted to be fired?

I fucking hate my job and have been pretty miserable lately. It's a good job overall that pays well and I'm lucky to have been working here for over a year but it is stressful as shit with neverending work, and makes like feel super bleak just sitting inside all day doing this while I could be out actually living. At this point I would honestly rather have some hourly job and actually be able to live my life. Or be fired and have a few months on unemployment and get a break while figuring out what I really want to do. Anyone else feeling this way or has gone through this?

Been there, my man.

Two things:

  1. You need to almost immediately take a vacation - a week at the very least. Even if you can't do anything fun because of COVID, just take a week off. You're probably suffering from burnout. It's very real and very destructive. After about half way through the week I guarantee you'll be in a better mood, have a clearer head, and be able to come up with a plan of action to fix your situation.
  2. Then, you need to start looking for jobs immediately. When you're as fed up as your are, your work product will suffer, your attitude will suffer, your relationships with coworkers will suffer, etc. You don't want that to be your reputation going forward. Don't let this fester - start looking for something new. Even the action of job hunting should make you feel a bit better just by taking control of your life in an attempt to steer it in the right direction.
