Eastdil VS BB Real Estate Finance
Hey guys, what do you think is better for breaking into a real estate equity investing role? Eastdil IB or BB Real Estate Finance (CMBS stuff)?

Both are great but id probably go eastdil just so you’re not immediately labeled a debt guy - can be a hard label to break. But not a problem if you love debt
Eastdil, not close either
Is neither an option? Investment Sales analyst is the role that I've seen make the jump the easiest. Not to say you can't/wouldn't but IS is typically easier (from what I've seen at least), however Eastdil is great and shouldn't struggle finding an exit op after a few years
Eastdil is hands down better than any investment sales option for exiting to top tier REPE...
As someone who hires analysts, I've noticed that IS analysts from CBRE/JLL/CW/etc. are typically more prepared and do better on modeling tests that we provide than people that come over from RE IB. It's not that REIB analysts are incompetent because they obviously aren't, but a high transaction volume IS analyst are more prepared in my experience. I did qualify my original statement saying from what I've seen. so obviously its not perfect blanket statement that applies to every person in IS vs every person in IS.
Also, the OP stated "breaking into equity investment role" not just top REPE and any family office/ middle market REPE/Dev need transactional experience more than IB experience.
ok makes sense
