Exit Opps from Special Servicers
Hey Everybody,
I was wondering what sort of exit opps exist for those that have been in an entry level role with special servicers such as CW Capital, LNR Property etc.

I would say Asset Management is the most likely one. What would you like to do?
Ideally move into either an investment sales in a JLL/HFF/CBRE/Eastdil or acquisition analyst type of role with a REPE/REIT, I don't how practical those two moves are though.
Just from what I'm seeing (my firm does Asset Management and all types of servicing), people don't really leave special servicing. They jump from one special servicer to another but not really into a different segment like investment sales. Most special servicers that I've talked to have been at 3 or 4 firms but all doing special servicing.
Is that due to there being no transferable skills that could lead to investment sales etc. or that they just enjoy special servicing?
Don't know but I'll ask for you though. My guess is it's just pigeonholing. Once you do it long enough no one considers you for other stuff. Again, I'll ask for you.
I think the exit ops are good for both debt and equity. I have seen a lot a guys do well from special servicing.
