Finders fee suggestion
Hello -
I recently connected a manufacturing company with a REPE group that also does development. They are exploring new construction options as well as leasing existing space with substantial buildout.
The manufacturing group was referred to me by a friend and I then facilitated the phone call and relationship w the REPE group. If this deal comes to fruition I will be looking for compensation. What finders fee would be applicable here? Thank you!
A big pat on the back.
0.5 - 1% of total transaction volume whatever it is, but good luck collecting on that :)
If the group is really big and you clearly have a relationship with them a haft a point to a point nobody will bat an eye if you continue to work the deal and do things to facilitate the relationship. You are making them money and if they think you will continue to bring them deals they will obviously pay you. I think smaller firms are more likely to screw you than these bigger shops but make sure to network with some of the executives so someone else doesn't take credit for the relationships.
Even actual brokers / advisors with an engagement letter get screwed out of fees occasionally. RE folks are some of the cheapest out there
Thanks for a good laugh. Lol good luck.
You will find it hard to collect unless you have a signed fee agreement in place.
