Freshman internship in RE

I’m a freshman interested in going into RE development or acquisitions, but it doesn’t seem like any of these firms offer freshman internships.

I know a lot of people going for IB intern in wealth management freshman year. Is there an equivalent in RE? Is there a certain type of firm I should look for? Or do I just have to pump out cold emails to small shops?

Something that I didn’t realize as a freshman is that owners of real estate come in all shapes and sizes. There are hundreds/thousands of small real estate investment firms that you’ve probably never heard of.

If you’re looking to get an internship in the area where you live, look through local business journals to find articles that may mention the names of these firms / look through the county parcel viewer and this should help to increase the pool of firms you can reach out to.

And honestly anything related to real estate works great for freshman year. So don’t overlook the value of spending a month or two working in property management or leasing.

And as the above poster mentioned, you can also use this time to sharpen up on technical skills through resources like the Eastdil Secured bootcamp.

I second this sentiment, many PM groups offer internships. On the non national level in your area they usually take Freshman. Some of the larger National Level ones I'm not sure if they take Freshman, but know that companies with the likes of Bozzuto/Avalon/Carr have pretty big localized internships outside of the Corporate team. Aka within a building or regional office looking over a couple of their properties.
