Greystone Monticello Originations/Asset Management Associate

Any insight on what the interview is like? How many rounds and what types of questions they ask? I read on another thread that there is an excel text. Any insights on the interview process would be helpful.

Also, are all the negative reviews about company culture and unfairness true? I’d be willing to struggle for 1-3 years if it got me out of small MF deal banking.

I interviewed with these guys for the same position mid last year. I ended up receiving the offer but decided to pass for various reasons. They have had this posting running and will continue to run until they figure out what they can do about turnover.

Interview - few intro calls, take home excel test, and final in person.

They are very hesitant to give a straight bonus range as well as what actually influences your year end bonus. Maybe this has changed since I interviewed with them.

When I went in-person they seemed very disorganized and frankly did not seem like I would like the culture there. They make it seem like you will get access to originations, however, you will need to start in AM to know the business. Considering that they are also hiring for straight originations roles I do not know how feasible this move actually is.

With that said they do a ton of deals in the healthcare space and are one of the largest players in New York. You will learn a lot if this is something you like but be prepared to work some fairly long hours.

Thank you! I’m trying to move out of a small commercial bank so I honestly am willing to take anything to get my foot into private/agency lending.

Was the excel test just a skills test or were there case study problems? How long after submitting are you required to send back? My bank is structured so we just fill in credits models. I don’t really make my own models although I know how they work…. So just trying to gauge what I should prepare for.

Thanks for the insight. This is really helpful!!
