GSE Underwriting Analyst Exit Opps?

Hello all,

I've searched around the site and haven't the exact guidance i'm looking for. I'm graduating UG at the end of 2020 and have the opportunity to be hired on full time to an agency lender (Berkadia, Northmarq, Walker & Dunlop etc.) as a "GSE Underwriting Analyst" in a regional office.

Throughout college i've held internships in construction, brokerage, capital markets, and a very small REPE. I've had my sights set for several years on joining an I/S or debt group in a primary market, then eventually move over to acquisitions for a fund (Multifamily?). I may be entirely skewed, but I feel that starting at this underwriting role would box me in without exit opportunities aside from agency lending roles. On the flip side, I'm worried that the job market will not be forgiving when I graduate in 6 months, especially in I/S.

I appreciate any and all opinions here.
