healthcare exit opps to Real Estate ....odd trend?

Healthcare focused VC/PE shops are natural stepping stones. This is just my personal experience, but I noticed a number of Healthcare folks going into real estate PE shops. Is this some type of odd trend, or does RE-PE generally take people from all different groups....my knowledge is that real estate valuation is very different than general corp-fin. However are REPE shops willing to take on associate with no real estate specific knowledge?

this also makes me wonder if PE shops simply want someone who can model and is good in excel, but not necessarily someone who has experience specifically in their industry?
