How do I answer this interview question?

How do you go about explaining in an interview not getting a return offer from a previous internship? I'm currently a senior in college looking for a full time job. The past two summers I interned at a well-known real estate company, but did not receive a return offer at the end of this summer. I've gotten questions on why I wouldn't want to return back to the company I interned at, and don't know how to respond. Should I admit I didn't get an offer (potentially setting a red flag off), or should I somehow sidestep the question? And if I should admit not getting an offer, should I try to offer an explanation why or not? Any advice would be super helpful!

Thanks so much,

A confused undergrad

If asked you should always answer but if the reason for the lack of return offer was because you were shit/you were an ass or anything similar you're fucked. Chances of that are very very slim and I'm going to give you the BoD - the reason was probably random or based on human factors. You could say they didn't allow people to speak their minds and when you did rather than seeing it as collaboration they say it as an insubordinate being rude. They could have had a shit culture you didn't like and it made the people-bonding aspect harder hence they thought you wouldn't fit whilst you realised it wasn't a great working environment. Variants of these are a good excuse.
