How long is an acceptable amount of time to work a role at an associate level? In other words, if I accepted a job as a development associate with a quality group, would like 1-2 years be reasonable?
I ask cause I’m being recruited and it’s an amazing offer, but the job is located somewhere I don’t necessarily want to settle down at. It would be great experience and set me up well resume wise, but as I’m getting into my late 20s I’m a little concerned about other life goals and trajectory like relationships and family, and wonder if that time should be spent located where I can better see to that.
I've seen countless examples of people staying somewhere for only 1 - 2 years and having no problem recruiting elsewhere, including myself. I'd just keep in mind that if you really want to have the opportunity be a learning experience, I'd expect to stay for 2 - 3 years. It takes 3 - 6 months to really get into the groove especially when you're younger, so it doesn't make much sense to me to go somewhere for the "experience' and only plan to stick around for a year.
