How relevant would this be for IB?
Hey all,
Was just interested in WSO's take on what sorts of opportunities might be available at a job described as this. What way is there to spin an internship like this for IBD?
"The team provides cost estimation, budget, change control and schedule management, as well as requisition and accounting controls for all capital projects including the firm's new headquarters, data processing centers and offices in emerging markets."
Thanks a lot.
It's definitely back office. It doesn't sound like Asset Management because it seems like all the business is internal.
Thank you for the response. It's in the BO division of a BB. I was wondering how I could spin it for IB recruiting junior year assuming I can't internal to IBD.
I have a few friends that made it from BO internships to FT FO IBD. That said, you are going to hustle.
At least you aren't booking trades like a BO S&T internship.
On your resume emphasize your roles in the capital projects especially related to financing and accounting.
Take an Argus class if you can, in order to demonstrate interest in RE and that you have a very basic understanding of what goes on at the asset level. I never worked in REIB and started my career in REPE, so I'm sure there are other people on the board with better insight.
You mentioned that your friends went from BO internship to FO FT, I'm curious as to whether it might be easier or harder to go from BO internship to FO internship at the same bank. A lot of people talk about how doing BO work kind of "taints" you, do you generally find that to be true?
I'm also fairly interested in REPE as well. Would you recommend any good books to read to get a basic grasp of the industry?
