Do people use the word "REPE" in the industry (conversation, etc)? How do you pronounce this? Do you pronounce it letter by letter, or is it "Reepee"?

I've never heard someone say this, they just say private equity.
But it's real estate bruv.

Honestly, if someone were to pronounce that acronym as "Reepee" or any other variant in conversation, I'd have to fight like hell not to burst out laughing. The only place I've ever seen "REPE" so fixated or even demarcated so finely is on WSO. Seriously, even the acronym isn't used that much outside of WSO.

I honestly feel bad for the IB forum, they are truly in their own world. The funny thing is that all real estate investment activity is generally "private", hence the unique REIT world (only time a real estate acronym is pronounced as a word I can think of).
Making such a big deal about the PE firms that real estate funds/strategies is really a WSO thing for sure. Love see what people say about working for Blackstone on their BREIT product..... I mean, would that be a job in "reepee"???
Does anyone actually use this word in verbal conversation?
Suppose if I had to I'd stick with 'Reap'...I'm a Reaper...I kinda like the sound of that if I'm being honest.

Hah true. At work it’s usually PERE (pear-ri) and that refers the publications/organization....REPE is a made up term by college kids on this site. Even then no one says “I work in PERE” but more “Lets use this/that figure published by PERE”
