How to transition from Debt Lender to Development or other "creative role"

Working at a debt lender at the moment (still in my first few months) but would someday like to be on the development or dare I say more "creative" side of the business. My initial interest in the industry was architecture, but I know that would take a long time/ money/ artistic pedigree and skills I haven't worked on since high school. Any ideas or thoughts would be greatly appreciated! Thanks all. Cheers.
