IB -> MM PE -> MBA -> REPE?

What candidates do REPE shops hire or do internships directly from top MBAs?

Curious if doing MM PE at a fund that does industrials, business services, or consumer would help if you wanted to pivot to REPE post-MBA? Not a top shop, but one with a little more sane hours.

My buddies love their lives in REPE (all did RE IB) and I'm getting a serious case of FOMO. They work 20 less hours than me and make almost as much all-in.

I feel like you could save 2 years and 500k+ and just make the jump directly

Like the guy below said, the recruiting is super unstructured. Even the most corporate RE firms pretty much post Associate roles on an as-needed basis. I would definitely try 6 months of intense networking first
