IB to Development
Junior in coverage IB (ignore title-old). Bit disillusioned at this point by the IB->PE/HF route (fear it may not be as fulfilling as I once thought) and thinking about a switch to RE development (learn operatorship and deliver real, tangible projects). The platform it’d be for is one that’s pretty active right now.
What should I be considering?
How difficult it is to develop at the moment
Long game. Risky business. You’re going to manage a lot and it will be very different from an IB job. Probably 50/50 finance and running the deal. A lot of consultant management, running design, dealing with schedule , contractor etc. just a diff business. A cool one and potentially very very lucrative. Much higher ceiling that IB but the pay happens much later and is lumpier and very cyclical
