Incoming REPE SA - how to prepare?

Hey guys, have a top REPE summer internship at a large REPE shop (it's a recognisable name) and will be doing acquisitions, AM's and disposals.

Any idea on what things to prepare specifically? In terms of modelling, knowledge, expertise etc.

1) Read the real estate news that relates to your firm (eg if they’re a debt fund, read about note sales, big loans that have closed)

2) Know the firms history. If there’s a list of deals done on a website or public filing, you should know the general story behind these deals before your first day

3) Brush up on PowerPoint and modeling skills. There’s tons of free modeling website for real estate deals. When we give interns modeling assignments, we all know who can do the shortcuts and has actually practiced and who is clueless in excel. It’s really obvious

4) Know the firms leadership. It’s a little embarrassing when people at work talk about “John” and then the intern is like “who’s John?”. John is the head of global real estate buddy…

Thanks so much! Working through the WallStreetPrep ones and looking to rebuild some ACRE ones as you touched on.

Would be curious to know what a typical intern modelling task would be, if you could share on those? (In an Acq / AM role)
