Is AE worth it with no experience?

I'm in Real Estate Advisory at a MM Accounting firm and am enrolled in an Argus Enterprise two-day workshop that the Altus Group offers ($1250 cost). I'm hopeful that I can transition into acquisitions, but with my current position, I don't do any financial modeling and for the most part, my day-to-day work isn't particularly transferable, so I need to get relevant experience somewhere. We have an extremely lean team that does Argus-related/financial modeling work, but I don't think I can break into that group without someone else leaving.
I'm planning on doing a self-study as well to brush up on my modeling skills.
Has anyone else taken the course without prior experience? If so, was it worth it? I'm slightly concerned that since I've never even used Argus before that I'll be way behind the 8-ball and it would end up being a waste of money. But at the same time - networking aside - I don't see how I can take that next step without any sort of relevant experience. Any insight that anyone can provide would be greatly appreciated!
I would argue that those courses are only worth it if you have no experience.
My MRED program had a two day Argus workshop with an Altus instructor about a month ago. If it is anything like ours, then they assume you know absolutely nothing about Argus. Just be prepared that they are going to throw A LOT of information at you in that two day span. It sets a good foundation, but you'll need to apply that information using their provided case studies to really get comfortable.
I think the workshop was helpful, but honestly think I would've taken away just as much by doing self-study over the course of a month or so.

You'll gain almost as much by reading the Argus Enterprise Product Manual that's available online. If you need more training, purchase the case studies and complete them while using the product manual.
Thanks for the advice. Unfortunately, I've waited too long and would only get 50% (?) of a refund if I were to cancel it now, so I'm planning on sticking the course, but definitely plan to self-study as well.
Ask your instructor if he/she can get you a student version of argus (they’re massively discounted, something like $100 for 3 months IIRC). If you read the manual and screw around on the student version for a couple months you could get it down cold. I took an argus class from UCLA Extension when I was starting out and learned nothing (bad teacher), but getting that student version made it easily worth it.
I took the UCLA Argus class with Norris, and I thought it was very helpful (with no prior Argus/CRE experience). I needed the self-study classes to be able to pass the certification test.
