Is Asset Management a decent starting space to end up in PE/REPE?
Received an AM offer at a lower-tier BB with a heavy alternatives focus for the office I'd been in. They are particularly focused on real estate as well and do some direct investing. Would this be a decent launchpad for a career in REPE, or is that not a common switch?
Are you doing debt AM or equity investments AM? If the latter, that’s technically already buyside work and could parlay that to a true PE shop from your bank.
It used to be. In this job market, most firms will only hire you if you’re already doing that same job elsewhere.
