KKR/BX/APO/Ares/Carlyle RE Comp Discussion

Currently work at a MF as an Associate 1 in the RE Credit/Equity Team acquistion/originations (won’t disclose). Feel like I’m getting underpaid on comp which was quoted around $250-$275k all-in (and have anecdotally heard this is what peers were paid last year).

Would appreciate any color on this. Was shocked to hear how this compares to traditional PE/PC which is $75-$100k higher for the same yoe…

You don't really hear of people in REPE crashing out or dying while on the job.

Yet.

Real estate is getting more institutional every year. We'll get there if we just put our minds to it.

...but is it REPE?

Won't disclose but MF: $150k base + 165k bonus + $30k sign-on for Associate 1 comp

I am an associate doing real estate credit at MF in London. My comp was around 300k USD all in. My friends at direct lending team got much better bonuses (200%) so their all in comp was around 400k. Worth noting that I work very similar hours to them - I would even argue that on average they have a better life work balance than I do but that’s purely due to the boss / culture in the team.
