Large RE firms with great culture in NY?

Last summer I interned in a T2 City in CRE. One of the best things about the internship was the people, and it made me look forward to going to work even more. There was lots of socialization between workers and no cutthroat feel to the place. Everyone felt like they were part of a team and happy hours were frequent. As I’m originally from NY, I am wondering if any large firms in the city have this type of culture. More specifically REPE (it seems that MF REPE is similar to traditional finance), but of course would want to know debt firms and development too! I may want to network with these firms FT.

thank you!

I meant nice and collegial, but WLB too. Would you say the majority of CRE don't fit being out by 5-6PM?

Will be very tough to find. If it does exist, people probably never leave. NY is the mecca for real estate and finance. Hence why most firms have their HQ here. Corporate HQs are typically more button up than other offices in tertiary markets. Commercial banks and lifecos typically offer good cultures and great WLB but you’re taking a paycut when compared to PE shops. I’ve seen PE shops with good cultures but you’re typically working until 8-9PMish with occasional late nighters.

Developments shops also have good WLB, but a lot of developers can be hardos so good culture ain’t promised. For anyone without carry, development shops prob pay the least out of all other types of RE firms - including banks, lifecos, SWF, family offices, asset managers, PE firms, etc.
